What a session pack is, and how to choose one

3 min read · 19 September 2026

Most sports memberships are sold by time — a month, a quarter, a year — and most of them are quietly designed around the fact that you will not use them. A session pack works differently, and it is worth understanding before you buy any kind of membership anywhere.

Sessions, not visits

Entitlement is counted in sessions, not in how many times you walk through the door. Half an hour of play costs half a session; a full hour costs one.

This matters more than it sounds. It means a quick weekday game is genuinely cheaper than a long weekend one, so the short session you can actually fit in is worth booking.

One pack, every sport

The same pack covers badminton, pickleball, football, box cricket, swimming and table tennis, and it covers coaching and tournament entry as well as open play.

The practical effect: if your football group is rained off, that evening's session is not wasted — you play something indoors instead. Habits survive when they can bend.

Validity starts when you buy

A pack runs daily, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly, and the clock starts on the day of purchase rather than on a fixed calendar date.

Unused sessions lapse when the pack expires. That is the one genuinely unforgiving part, and it is the thing to size correctly.

How to size a pack honestly

Work out how many times you played in the last month — actually played, not intended to. Then buy for that number, not for the number you hope to reach.

People systematically overbuy sports memberships. The gym industry is built on it. Buy the smaller pack, use it fully, and upgrade when you run out — which you can do at any time.

Questions worth asking of any membership

Ask these anywhere, not just here.

  1. Does unused entitlement expire? Almost always yes. Find out when
  2. Can I pause it? Usually not. Assume not
  3. Can I transfer it? Usually not
  4. Can I upgrade mid-term, and do I lose anything by doing so?
  5. Is the price inclusive of tax? At KGB it is
  6. What happens if I cancel a booking? The rules around no-shows and late cancellation are where the money is

The sixth question is the one people forget and the one that costs them.

Checking your balance

Ask the desk for an access code and you can see your balance, your upcoming sessions and every change ever made to your account, from your phone.

Nothing in that history can be edited or deleted by anybody, including us — a correction is added beside the original rather than replacing it. If a number ever looks wrong, the screen will show you exactly how it got there.
